Harlan Properties Appeal Recanted From Public Hearing



On July 2nd, 2024, All Things Forney posted an article regarding a request by Harlan Properties Inc to have the Adams Ranch Planned Development rezoned for higher density housing at the insistence of the Forney Independent School District (Forney ISD). During the June 6th, 2024 Planning and Zoning meeting, the request for rezoning was denied unanimously. You can read the previous article here;

Since the Planning and Zoning Meeting on June 6th, Harlan Properties submitted a request to appeal the P&Z Board’s denial to City Council to consider and possibly overturn the denial for rezoning. The Forney Messenger posted a public notice by the City of Forney regarding the requirement for a public hearing for this appeal.



Yesterday, July 11th, 2024 as the City Council agenda for July 16th 2024 was released, this item has been removed. All Things Forney has submitted a request to the City under the Public Information Act Request for the original appeal request and any documentation from Harlan Properties Inc to remove or recant their appeal. The push by Forney ISD to have higher density housing projects like small lots and multifamily, around the Keith Bell Opportunity Central, may continue.
